Our priorities for the years 2009 and 2010 are Literacy, Numeracy and Student Well Being. Teachers at our school base their programming and assessment on the South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability Framework (SACSA). Our curriculum covers 7 areas of study with an emphasis on the development of literacy, numeracy and information technology skills across all learning areas. Within our integrated curriculum we aim to develop children who are confident, independent and skilled learners.
Our learning program includes:
- An emphasis on the early detection and correction of learning difficulties.
- A daily Literacy / Numeracy Block in all classrooms that has 2 adults to support children's learning.
- Individual and small group literacy programs for children who require additional support.
- Specialist teachers and learning in the areas of Music and Design and Technology.
- A Teacher - Librarian who supports our Resource Based Learning Program
- Support for children with learning difficulties.
- Support for children from Non English Speaking Backgrounds
- Support for our Aboriginal students.
- Opportunities for children learn musical instruments.
- Opportunities for children to sing in the choir.
- Opportunities for children to participate in a dance / drama performance.
